Ghanaian stars enjoy mixed results in Europa League as Afum and Bukari taste victory while Muniru and Sackey suffer defeats
Sadat Bukari helped Astra victory in Europa League

There were mixed results for Ghanaian players on Thursday night in the Uefa Europa League third round first-leg ties with attacker Samuel Afum and Sadat Bukari recording wins while Sulley Muniru, Isaac Sackey and others slipped to defeat with their sides. 

At the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern in Switzerland, striker Samuel Afum was introduced in the 22nd minute by Young Boys Bern who sneaked past Cypriot side FC Ermis 1-0 thanks to a 59th minute strike by Rapha Nuzzolo.

Swedish giants AIK Solna managed to squeeze a point from Kazakh side Astana after holding them to a 1-1 stalemate at the Astana Arena. Striker Kwame Karikari and midfielder Ibrahim Moro started for AIK and completed the entire duration for AIK while former Ghana U20 triallist Patrick Twumasi came off the bench to the entire second-half for Astana. Swedish-born Edward Owusu warmed the AIK bench. Ebenezer Ofori was not in the AIK squad for the game.

At the Stadionul Marin Anastasovici in Giurgiu, Seidu Yahaya and Sadat Bukari emerged victorious over Isaac Sackey and Kevin Luckassen as Astra side thrashed them 3-0. Yahaya started the game while Sadat climbed off the bench in the second-half to play in the second half. Luckassen lasted 71 minutes.

Belarus league leaders Dinamo Minsk posted a narrow 1-0 win over Romanians CFR Cluj. Midfielder Sulley Muniru played the entire duration of the game for Cluj.
