Ghanaian side Medeama say they are unaware of the departure of their midfielder Michael Helegbe who has arrived in Lebanon to sign for local side Tripoli Sporting Club.

The Tarkwa-based club are threatening strong action against the former youth international if the it is confirmed that he travelled to Lebanon to sign a deal.

Ghana's leading football news website www.ghanasoccernet.com exclusively revealed on Friday that Helegbe had travelled to Lebanon together with Eric Bekoe to sign for the big-spending club. GHANAsoccernet.com produced an exclusive picture of Helegbe and Eric Bekoe travelling to Lebanon to sign the contract which prompted anger from the Tarkwa-based club.

This has prompted a huge reaction from Medeama who claim they will announce their actions and sanctions once the move is confirmed from Lebanon.

“Micheal Helegbe has a TWO year contract with the club which he signed in January 2014,” Medeama spokesman Tony Nkrumah Boateng said.

“If reports coming in from Lebanon are proven to be TRUE, then there has been a clear breach of the regulations governing player registrations and the club will respond accordingly at the appropriate time,” he ended.

Medeama say they are shocked that the midfielder, who has a two-year contract with them, apparently travelled out of the country without their knowledge to sign for another team.

“Micheal Helegbe has a TWO year contract with the club which he signed in January 2014,” Medeama’s director of Communication, Tony Nkrumah Boateng clarified the state of the player’s engagement with the club.

“If reports coming in from Lebanon are proven to be TRUE, then there has been a clear breach of the regulations governing player registrations and the club will respond accordingly at the appropriate time,” he ended.

The 28-year-old who joined the side on a two-year deal in a free transfer from Asante Kotoko last season.
