Ghanaian prospect Ema Boateng has revealed he snubbed English Premier League duo Manchester City and Sunderland to sign for Helsingborg IF.
The 20-year-old moved to the Swedish top-flight side from UC Santa Barbara in the United States.
“All trips were booked but everything felt perfect in Helsingborg. I got to sample training and was offered a contract so I stayed and signed,” he told the Evening Post.
“I did not know whether City and Sunderland would offer a contract and the transfer window was about to close so I did not dare take the chance.”
Boateng, a former Right to Dream Academy, signed a three-and-half year contract.
