Ghanaian midfielder Coffie backs Boakye-Yiadom to make AFCON squad

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has been tipped to excel at next year's Nations Cup

Chievo Verona midfielder Isaac Cofie has backed Richmond Boakye Yiadom to make the final 23-man squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 19-year-old is part of Ghana’s provisional 26-man squad for the continental showpiece after an exciting start to the season at Italian seria B side Sassuolo.

He notched his eight goal of the season for the side as they won 3-1 at Paldova over the weekend.

Coffie, 21, is confident his compatriot will make the final cut and go ahead to shine in South Africa.

“I am very happy for him. He’s worked so had and deserve to be in the team,” Coffie said

“There are no doubts in my mind that he will be part of the final 23-man squad and play an important role in the team.

“He is only 19-years and I believe the sky will be the limit for him.”

The on-loan Juventus striker scored his first goal for Ghana in his debut appearance during the Black Stars 1-1 draw against China in an international friendly in August this year.
