Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has thrown his Marseille future in doubt and put English side Liverpool on alert after refusing to emphatically confirm whether he will stay with the French giants next season.

Ayew, son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele, did not answer directly when he was asked the pointed question whether he would stay at Marseille.

Instead he put two caveats on his future saying his future at the club rests on the interest incoming coach Marcelo Bielsa has interest in him.

Marseille are keen to extend his contract which expires at the end of next season but the Ghanaian is only calling for talks.

The revelation has put Liverpool on alert as they are among the several clubs who are interested in signing the Ghana international.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Inter Milan are also among the clubs reported to be keen on signing the player from Marseille.

Ayew's own future remains unclear and he is only keen on staying at the club beyond next season when his contract is due to expire if certain conditions are met.

"I would like to stay but we'll see if Bielsa wants to me," Ayew said at a Marseille press conference on Friday.

"But the club has other priorities to address.

"When the club is ready, we will discuss. The president knows where to find me."

Ayew's salary will increase again if he decides to stay at Marseille but his chances of winning trophies will diminish as the club are unable to fight PSG to attract top players at the club.

The Ghana international's valuation will rocket if he excels for the Black Stars at the World Cup in June.
