Ghanaian midfielder Albert Bruce on trials with Sunderland

Ghana's young midfielder Albert Bruce will travel to England to undergo trials with England side Sunderland, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old, who is on the verge of ending his one-year loan spell with Polish giants Legis Warsaw, will join the Black Cats this month.

He will spend two weeks with the Premier League club before his future is decided.

Bruce was loaned out by Asante Kotoko but the youngster was unable to command a starting place in the team which has resulted in the decision for him to look for opportunities elsewhere.

"I do not know yet whether I will be tested in the first team or the reserves," Bruce said.

"The English club only saw my videos and they were impressed so they want to see me in person to examine how I play. I'm going there for two weeks."

Bruce looks to have landed the chance at Sunderland thanks to the cooperation they have with Asante Kotoko.

However the sticking point would be if Sunderland are able to secure a work permit for the talented midfielder as he does not qualify for an automatic work permit.

Players arriving outside the EU must have some senior national team experience over the previous two years.

Bruce has not played for Ghana's senior national team but he could be sent out to another club in other part of Europe if he is successful so that he can acquire EU residency to enable him play in England.
