Ghanaian defender Nana Akwasi Asare has admitted his focus off earning a call-up back into the Ghana squad is keen on helping KAA Gent in the Belgian top-flight.

The 27-year-old who last played for the Black Stars in November 2012 in a pre-Nations Cup warm up friendly, has been consistently overlooked by the Ghana technical team.

And the former Feyenoord youth team player has over the seasons been one of Ghana's most consistent players abroad and skippered FC Utrecht for two seasons.

Asare feels a decision to include him in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup solely rest on the Ghana coach and he has vowed to devote more attention to his club.

"In November last year, I was called up for the last time. But my priority is my club. Whatever else happens, that's God's will. The coach decides if he needs me or not," he told Soccer News.

The Kumasi-born is capped five times by Ghana.
