Ghanaian defender Nana Akwasi Asare has admitted his focus off earning a call-up back into the Ghana squad is keen on helping KAA Gent in the Belgian top-flight.

The 27-year-old who last played for the Black Stars in November 2012 in a pre-Nations Cup warm up friendly, has been consistently overlooked by the Ghana technical team.

And the former Feyenoord youth team player has over the seasons been one of Ghana’s most consistent players abroad and skippered FC Utrecht for two seasons.

Asare feels a decision to include him in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup solely rest on the Ghana coach and he has vowed to devote more attention to his club.

“In November last year, I was called up for the last time. But my priority is my club. Whatever else happens, that’s God’s will. The coach decides if he needs me or not,” he told Soccer News.

The Kumasi-born is capped five times by Ghana.

This asare guy can easily solve our left back problem
Fantastic player, but Don’t really know What’s going on

  2. Kofi(Atlanta) says:

I hate it when ppl complaine about Coachito but this is one area I don’t understand. This guy is been one of the most featured Ghanaian players in Europe but always get snubbed.
I try to leave Coachito alone fwhen it comes to players call-ups but……

  3. papa says:

i seriously wonder why he hasnt been called up.

  4. top ranking says:

AA is blind.he cant pick the right players.he prefers a goal keeper who does not get any playing time for his club.what a coach!

  5. King of kings says:

I don’t really know this Defender but Kwesi Appiah open your eyes and if he deserves to be part of Ghana team .please call him. This is the time Ghana has to show the world that we know how to play football. Gone are the days when Coaches call up players because of their Pocket and the mangers of the players. This is the time to make your mark Kwesi Appiah

  6. El Savio says:

Seriously season after season i hear of this guy but he is never looked at. Seriously we should consider him cos to skipper an European side its not easy.

  7. Askantwi says:

Akwasi Appiah should really come out and explain why Akwasi Asare and Kwarassey are not being featured. The situation for these 2 players are very strange.

  8. Assemblyman says:

Kwarasey was doing so much good in the post of absent Olele.Because we all knew that Olele was going to retire fully. And yes!Kwarasey from no where proved a strong point to that effect after Ghana and Brazil’s friendly in London a year or two ago. This strong case of form continue through the African cup nations cup.But after we had qualified for the Gabon and Equitorial Guinea African cup of nations a year ago, when Fatau was invited to camp.I guess, all of a sudden Kwarasey’s confidence and psychological motivations vanished. At some point he was having problems seeing balls shot at him by opponents.Ah!carefully thinking about all these things which happened in the place of Fatau Dauda,I think a lot has to be investigated physically and spiritually to know what exactly went wrong with Kwarasey.
Meanwhile,he isnt a poor goalkeeper.he has been a fantastic one.A true leader who had lead his club to win the Norwegian league as a captain.Later he was voted as the best goalkeeper in the big league. So after all these, why cant he perform with the Blackstars???This is my question.
Obviously he is miles ahead of Fatau Dauda in all departments..
So just one mistake in Equitorial Guinea-Gabon nations cup makes Kwarasey a bad keeper?Meanwhile,he didnt conceed much as compared to Fatau Dauda after he had taken over the post “jujuly” from Kwarasey. And no one seems to be talking about this at the GFA over such concerns.I think in my personal opinion,Dauda at the peak of his form is not anywhere near the calibre of goalkeeper in Kwarasey.
If we are even to be fair to ourselves as citizens of mother Ghana, wanting the interest of Ghana first and not our pockets.I should think Kwarasey should be number one,Daniel Agyei as number two, goalkeeper Razak Brimah as number three and Ofoli Adade as number 4.That is if Mr.Akwasi Appiah wants to be fair to himself and words that,he will only select players who are fit and have enough playing time at their club levels. For this reason Fatau is no where close.
Why are we letting this thing to happen within our national team.Akwasi Appiah come out clear and honest about this .Because some people like myself barely understand this sort of player politicking and favoritism going on within the BS.
We all know well that Akwasi had refused to invite Daniel Agyei for not being able to play in the South African league all because he was awaiting his paper works. There are a couple of players that Akwasi had refused to invite including Adiyiah,Emmanuel Frempong,Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew all for the reason of lack of playing time.
Yet,you went ahead to fix clubless Inkoom and unnsettled Fatau Dauda in the first 11.And what makes these inactive players better than those you had refused to invite based on the same reason you had dropped others.
Ah Darn!God is watching you Akwasi Appiah.
Ghanasoccernet, who is doing this childish publicity about Fatau Dauda on your side.Is he or his agent paying you to do that..Because its about him all since 2 weeks ago at every hour. What has Fatau given you guys and how much?
Maybe the person at the offices of ghanasoccernet who is acting as a publicist for Fatau Dauda should rather advise him to seek playing time and maybe unlock his juju against Kwarasey..Because he talking here and there makes him the loudest empty barrel ever known within our soccer circus..someone should get a life..

    • lucio1 says:

You hit the nail hard on them Assamblyman! Your comment is right on point damn! But he didn’t stop calling Daniel Agyei because of paperworks, he was playing actively they’ve tarnished Agyei nd Kwarasey’s spirits oo but God is alive! Fatsus juju end is neigh

      • Assemblyman says:

My bro!he stopped calling Daniel Agyei due to paperwork during his early days at Free State Stars. And he replaced him with Razak Brimah.Who also has been dumped due to a friendly match that we Ghanaians and GFA knews they shouldnt have played due to fatigue in Japan. Then we made a spacegoat out of Razak Brimah too.Till date he also hasnt been called.Yet this Fatau guy makes so many mistakes and even when he is not active at the club level. He is number 1 for the BS.How can this happen?I am wondering so much.

  9. lucio1 says:

Nana ASARE deserves to be in the blackstars, fantastic player captained Utrecht to a rank they hadn’t reached in 20 years. AA stop overlooking him please!

  10. lucio1 says:

Nana Asare deserves to be in the final squad by all means I mean come on he even scored goals for fc utrecht captained them whatva fantastic player indeed.

  11. Psylux GH says:

For a player like Nana Akwasi Asare, I will comment for the first time. I have been wondering why he doesnt earn a call up. Honestly speaking, this guy has been consistent in his career in Europe but has been persistently ignored. If you invite Inkoom and others, then u can do same for him. Please give him a little chance maybe he can prove a point. We need competition in all departments.

  12. Sam says:

A sensational player he will be a good addition in the team and a better starter at the left back. Drop Harrison aful, he is not impressive.
