Ghanaian defender Davidson Drobo-Ampem scored a heartbreaking early minute own-goal against his Esbjerg side which denied them maximum points against Aalborg in a 2-2 draw on Monday evening.

Esbjerg were subjected to early pressure by the visitors forcing the German-born center-back to concede an own-goal in the 5th minute.

His attempted clearance proved to be a big calamity as he turned in the ball into his own net and more agony compiled for the former St Pauli defender and his side as the visitors doubled their lead just before the half-hour mark.

But nine minutes before the break, Dutch attacker Mick van Buren halved the deficit for Esbjerg with an inspiring finish.

Eight minutes after the interval, Emil Lyng finally grabbed the equaliser for the host.

Ampem lasted the entire duration of the game despite his early howler and it was the 25-year-old's 12th game of the season for Esbjerg who are on course for progress to the next round of the Uefa Europa League.
