Ghanaian youth defender Daniel Boateng continues to impress on pre-season with Arsenal's reserves squad as he made a second-half appearance in their 3-0 defeat to English lower-tier side Boreham Wood on Saturday.

The 20-year-old has returned to the Underhill after spending last season at Oxford United and has already played in pre-season games for Steve Gatting's U21 side.

Boateng was among triplets introduced by Gatting just before the start of the second-half to help anchor his defence and he achieved considerable among of success in the game.

After Arsenal had conceded two first half goals, Boateng's introduction brought stability to the back and limited the opposition's chances in attack.

Though he did not make Arsene Wenger's first team squad, he could end up playing games at the Emirates Stadium should if he is not sent on loan.
