Rennes defender John Boye is doubtful for Friday night’s clash with Montpellier in the French top-flight because of a thigh injury.

The 25-year-old, who is a key player of the club, suffered the setback at training.

The French club says Boye may have suffered from the number of matches he played at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

“The central defender suffers from pain in the pubic which may be the result of the tough matches he played at the AFCON for Ghana,” the club’s official website.

Boye scored for Rennes last week on his return from the AFCON.
