German-born Ghanaian midfielder Karim Bellarabi is on course to nailing his place at Bayer Leverkusen for the upcoming Bundesliga season as he continues to excel at pre-season.

The 24-year-old has returned to Bayer after spending last season at relegated Eintracht Braunschweig where he bagged 3 goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

After returning to the BayArena, new manager Roger Schmidt, who is eager to assess the qualities of the attacking midfielder before deciding on his future, has been fielding him in games and Bellarabi has proven his worth.

In Bayer's 2-0 triumph over FC Seoul in their pre-season game on Friday, Bellarabi was impressive in attack as he scored the opener.

Bellarabi opened the scoring for Leverkusen with a shot from distance after 24 minutes. Stefan Kiesling duly wrapped up the win with a volley in the second half.

A host of clubs including English side West Bromwich Albion and Spanish side Sevilla have all reportedly expressed interest in signing Bellarabi but with his current impressive form, the new Bayer manager is likely to retain him in his squad for the upcoming season as they will have domestic and European games.

Bellarabi joined Bayer in 2011 from Eintracht Braunschweig but has failed to claim a regular playing spot at the club.
