Young Boys were on the brink of slipping to defeat on the opening day of the Swiss Super League season but it took Ghanaian attacker Samuel Afum to climb off the bench to rescue them at the AFG Arena as the tie ended 2-2 against St Gallen.

The 2014/15 Uefa Europa League campaigners fell behind under just 14 minutes after DÃ…¾engis Cavusevic put them behind but Japanese forward Yuya Kubo pecked the scoring for the Yellows before Boys scored an own-goal to give them a 2-1 deficit.

Kubo, the first scorer, was sent through two clear occasions but he unbelievably missed the chances.

And, they could not come back into the game until Afum was brought on 10 minutes to the end of regulation time.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak man, introduced as an 80th minute replacement for Canadian defender Alain Rochat, exhibited true predatory instincts to grab the leveller for Boys.

Fellow substitute Rapha Nuzzolo weighed in a tailor-made cross from the right and Afum timed his run to apply a ferocious first-time half-volley to register his debut goal of the season.
