Ghanaian-born former Dutch youth international Fred Benson scored twice within two minutes for PEC Zwolle to inspire them to a 4-1 win over second-tier side Excelsior Rotterdam in the Dutch KNVB Beker on Tuesday night.

Benson raced the visitors into the lead in the 8th minute with a delightful finish and added the second two minutes later.

The double takes his season's tally to 8 in 17 games.

The 29-year-old had not scored in a competitive fixture since early November but used the game to highlight his scoring credentials by scoring a double at the Stadion Woudestein to record victory for his side.

The victory has helped Zwolle to reach the quarter-finals of the competition where they join the giants Ajax Amsterdam, Eredivisie leaders Vitesse Arnhem and Feyenoord.

Benson was born in Ghana but moved to the Netherlands where he featured for the Dutch U19 and U20 sides.

He is still eligible to play for Ghana if he decides to switch his nationality.
