Ghana duo Rashid Sumaila and Fatau Dauda returned to their South African Premier League clubs after enjoying extended vacations due to their participations at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Goalkeeper Dauda, who has not hidden his intention to leave Orlando Pirates, was given a heroââ¬â¢s welcome by colleagues upon torching down in their Soweto training ground.
It was a sign of recognition for his contributions at the tournament after playing two matches.
For Dauda, it was more of a surprise as many of the colleagues did not expect him to do that well giving the little playing time he had last season.
ââ¬ÅUpon arrival my colleagues starting clapping and the coach quickly came to congratulate me in person after doing so on phone on several occasions,â⬠the former AshantiGold player told GHANASoccernet.com.
Sumaila, 22, who had an excellent outing with the Brazilians by playing in 22 league games en route to Sundowns lifting their first PSL trophy, was given a similar welcome.
ââ¬ÅCongratulations for making the squad and also making Sundowns proud,â⬠Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane told Sumaila.
