Versatile Ghanaian winger Nana Akwasi Asare scored the only goal of the game for FC Utrecht as they narrowly defeated Groningen 1-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Friday.

The 26-year-old carried Jan Wouters' side on his shoulders, scoring the solitary goal of the game in the 58th minute at the Stadion Galgenwaard.

The former KV Mechelen player coolly connected home an Alexander Gerndt long weighted cross from the right from inside the box.

Utrecht have moved temporarily to fourth place as Ajax and Feyenoord are set to play on Saturday.

Asare who skippered Utrecht was replaced on the 80th minute mark.
