Ghana winger Christian Atsu came off the Everton bench to mark his English Premier League debut as the Toffees shared the spoils with Arsenal in a 2-2 stalemate at the Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old Chelsea loanee entered the game in the 84th minute, replacing Belgian international Kevin Mirallas but his influence was just limited to cameo role though Arsenal equalised Everton’s 2-1 lead before his entry.

The Toffees suffered a cruel late blow as Coleman and Naismith’s efforts are levelled by Ramsey and Giroud at the death.

Atsu joined Everton a fortnight ago on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea but could not make a debut in the 2-2 draw at Leicester City.

The former FC Porto starlet was expected to garner enough playing time this weekend after scoring twice in a reserves game for the Toffees but manager Roberto Martinez started him from the bench.

Everton have picked up two points from their opening two games of the campaign.

  2. Rasheed says:

How can Appiah leave goal scorer like Boakye Yiadom and invite Jordan who doesn’t know when to shoot.Ei, Abedi is really intimidating Wimpy Appiah

I have Neva seen such a useless coach like AA in ma entire life before. boakye yiadom has scored 9goals in a high profile preseason matches and yet you didn’t invite him. AA you will surely fail cux ur not been truthful.

  6. frank says:

Was even surprised he didn’t invite boakye yiadom. The guy is playing for Atalanta and scoring, wat again are you expecting from the boy. I’m sure AA is jealous of boakye yiadom

  7. sam says:

  9. YAW9 says:

Folks. The fact here is that the GFA (the stuff) are all bogos. They know nothing, talkless of AA. I dont dislike him. I like him as a person but as a coach no never. Because one has coach Kotoko, Hearts or has even played the National team does not means he is capable of coaching the national team. Even being the Asis. Dose not mean that. Everythingis clear here. There is something wrong somewhere. One of the Qualities of A real coach knowing the mentalitiesof the players(because tje national team is made of players from the whole world). The national team will be trashed bigtime if nothing is done

  10. Rasheed says:

@Papadinho,I hope the truth is not hurting you.Let me advise you my brother,be careful in cursing innocent people, because there is something in the spiritual world called “boomerang”.

  11. sabato says:

Schlupp and Baba Rahman were great today for their varrious teams. do Ghana really lacks quality left back? Its a big no.The problem is from a lazy coach who can’t identify talent when he sees one let alone polish it. Kwesi Appiah is lazy.
I watched both games involving Schlupp and Rahman and i tell what, both players were superb. Am suprised none made the cut for the WC. and AA was crying for a left back. This clearly shows how incompetent AA is. A good coach is supposed to smothen the rough edges of a player and make him a better one, but doesn’t sit down and wait for a ready-made player. Where are they going to come from, the Moon….?
And they are playing in the German Bundesliga and the English Premier League for that matter. Oh! AA, u lack forsight.
With these two players together with Massawudu Alhassan of Udinese, no serious coach will complain of lack of left full backs. Opare and Afful can now concentrate on the right full back duties. Kwesi Appiah be serious if u really want to coach the Black Stars!!

  12. salinsa says:

Kwesi appiah maxwell konadu nasamu yakubu and saban quaye aren’t good enough to man the national team bench & kwesi nyantakyi has done Ghana a great deservice by packing the bench with that calibre of people. Sabato massawudu, and schulp were giving the opportunity but could not nail the left full back position convincingly. Rrahman is a very good material but at right back at under 20 he was exciting going forward but could be horrible at the back sometimes. Coach Opel e claims he is a natural central defender and thats where kwesi should use him becos john boye can be awful. Masawudu too ordinary & sclupp more honning is required. for now the kwadwo asamoah solution is the best for Ghana.
