Ghana winger Christian started and completed his first full match for Vitesse Arnhem in their 3-2 win over Heerenveen on Saturday.

The 21-year-old played the full throttle of the away match despite returning from international duty where he scored to help Ghana crash Egypt 6-1 in the 2014 World Cup playoffs.

Atsu joined Vitesse on loan in the summer after signing a five-year deal to join English giants Chelsea.

The 21-year-old made his long awaited first team debut when he came on as a second half substitute in Vitesse’s 2-1 to Feyenoord on October 6.

His debut was delayed due to protracted work permit issues.

Atsu however started and finished the game at Heerenveen after which he expressed delight at getting his first 90 minutes under his belt at the Dutch club.

“Happy to play 90 minutes for Vitesse. Great away win against heerenveen 2-3 Vitesse,” the Ghana international Tweeted after the match.

The ex Rio Ave loanee is rediscovering his form following a temporal blip due to lack of regular first team action while at FC Porto – which served as catalysed for his move to Chelsea.
