Ghana winger Christian Atsu has completed his move to English side Chelsea after passing a medical in Holland on Saturday, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. (See exclusive pictures below)
The 21-year-old has signed for the English giants on a four-year deal but has been immediately loaned out to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.
Having successfully completed the medical, he now seals one of the major transfers for Ghanaian youngsters in the world with playing in the Dutch top-flight giving him the necessary growth to blossom after his loan spell.
Atsu joins the Blues from FC Porto where he had just a year remaining on his contract with the Portuguese champions.
He had however refused to renew his contract at Porto because of the desperately low wages despite his huge influence on the pitch which led him to agitate for a move away from the club in pursuit of his dream to play in the English Premier League.
The Ghana international looked set to join Liverpool but they failed to match his valuation.
Chelsea were said to have paid 3.5m euros for the young Ghanaian.
He will however spend a season on loan in the Eredivisie with Vitesse before officially arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Atsu will now travel to Ghana where he will join the Black Stars team for the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Friday.
He is also expected to travel with the Black Stars for an international friendly against Japan days later before rejoining Vitesse to begin his loan spell.
