Ghana will win 2013 AFCON - Andre Ayew

Posted On Saturday, 29th December 2012

Andre Ayew has declared the Black Stars will win the 2013 Nations Cup

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana winger Andre Ayew has declared the Black Stars will win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars are back in the reckoning for the continent’s flagship tournament after beating Malawi back-to-back to qualify in style.

The bookmakers have tipped the Ghanaians once again as one of the huge favourites to win the title in South Africa despite their failure to deliver the crown just under a year ago in Gabon and Equitorial Guinea.

Ayew, who was in Cameroon earlier this week on the invitation of African legend Samuel Eto’o Fils for a book launch, bodly declared the Black Stars will end a long-wait for the African title in South Africa.

“Please, I’m not here to talk about the CAN, it can be done when the time is indicated, “Ayew is quoted by Footafrica365.fr

“But know that we will win this CAN in South Africa,”

The Marseille star is gradually grinding to a steam after a slow start in the French Lique 1 and will be one of the key players for the Black Stars at the continental showpiece.

Ghana are housed in pool B where they will battle old foes Mali and DR Congo as well as less-fancied Niger.

If we had just 2 GBStar players with the courage and ambition this chap, Andre morgan dede Ayew has, the sky would have been our limit. I just hope kwadwo asamoah can stop his ”tiboor” nature when he comes to play for Ghana. Somebody should tell him to be bit aggressive.

    • Askantwi says:

shut you mouth. how many goals has andre scored for ghana? andre wanted the # 10 jersey, what has he done with it? Just like his father who did nothing with the 10 jersey for the national team. Our previous # 10 players, at least, won the nations cup for ghana; Razak and Opoku Nti. These impatient ayew brothers run their mouth like “NIKA NIKA” but can’t deliver. They should work harder and shut up their BIG MOUTH, including you of course.

      • Kwesi says:

Sour grapes. You seem to be a very unhappy person. How many of Ghana’s previous #10s archived what Dede has achieved at 23? I am talking about real 23 not the football type of 23? If I were you Askantwi I would wise up and know that I can never match up to Dede much more rebuke him.

        • kwame pito says:

Asanktwi, I am not talking KASA down. All I am saying is if he can be more aggressive and show ambition in a GH Jersey. The combination of Him and Andre will be powerful. I mean he is a great player but he shows less drive on GH Jersey.

          • Askantwi says:

That I agree with you. You are damn right if Andre and Asamoah could work together, plus Wakaso and atsu, we are unbeatable.

      • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

ASK, ARE U HIGH? DEDE PLAYED WELL AND WORE THE 10 JERSEY WELL AT AFCON 2012. HE WAS ONLY 22. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR THIS KID. HE CAPTAINED U20 TO WCUP GLORY. HAVE U FORGOTTEN? HE ALSO PLAYED IN THE ANGOLA AFCON THAT WENT TO THE FINALS. HE MUST HAVE BEEN 10/20 AND EVEN SCORED A GOAL IN AFCON ANGOLA. SHAME ON U. DEDE HAS SCORED MORE GOALS AND ASSISTED ON MORE GOALS THAN KWADWO ASAMOAH. CHECK THE FACTS. SHAME ON U!

  2. kingboat says:

Well said Andre, We’r praying for you.

  3. mukmin says:

That is an arrogant statement to make only Allah will determine the winner and the outcome that’s how less fancied teams like Chelsea(in particular) and Zambia won their trophies. Although Zambia have played very well and cohesively they remind me of Egypt. But the also had divine help with Ghana and Ivory Coast both missing pks in the semis and finals respectively. What the team needs to do is play their best and work hard and God will reward them and the country for the effort they put in. Football is not won by declaration if it was there would be no need for games.

    • Deus Wa Soccer says:

Can you stop talking about Zambia @Mukmin.We dont need your attention–BITTER MAN.and leave the young man alone you JEALOUSY MAN

      • nana says:

@mukmin, pls we have heard enough about your zambia we dont care.
Andre is entitled to say and believe what he wants, us ghanaians are happy he is saying we will win, and when he is saying that are you trying to say he does not mean they are not going to work hard, come on…

    • Zambia is out toilet hole says:

mukmin,It is so foolish on your part to say this. What is the arrogance in this statement?Or you luck vocabulary to express yourself that you said he’s arrogant?Well most Zambians are bad at English as the world knows.Be it knwn that one trophy of your entire world since the start of nations cup competitions is zero performance no matter when your country won it and therefore can’t be showing off as if Zambia i also a ecognized footballing country in Africa or the world.Shut up and wise up because Zambia is no where near Ghana and we don’t even want to exchange words concerning achievements in soccer with you because the world knows your football isnothing to be compared with Ghana,Nigeria,Ivory coast, Egypt,Cameroon ,Senegal or Mali.Just a little lucky for once doesn’t make you anything and even make you seem stupid that you speak against someone who is far better and prosperous?

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

KWASIA MUKMIN. IF U ARE A BOXER AND THE JOURNALIST ASK YOU IF YOU THINK U CAN WIN OR NOT. WAT WILL U SAY? ABOA K3K3…

  4. muftawu nabila says:

plz do the talking on the pitch and not with the media.

  5. Maxwell Johnson says:

YES!!! I have been having that feeling for a while now, we can end the drought in SA next year. @Askantwi get real here and stop criticizing the young man and his father wrongly. Dede has won 2 major titles for GH ( Africa & World U20) whiles his father ( Maestro Abedi Pele ) won the 1982 AFCON with the B/S, ironically the last title GH won @ senior level.

We all know that KASA is a very good player by all standard but his performance for the BS over the last few yrs has not been the best, Dede on the other hand has been a key performance for the senior national team since AFCON 2O1O in Angola. Besides both of them have made about 40 or so appearances for the BS but Dede has scored more goals than KASA, the statistics are very clear. The young man has seen the vision of GH winning the AFCON next yr, what we all need to do is to pray and support the team.

    • Robeen says:

You forget to mention their individual awards – Abedi three times best in Africa and the son BBC best in Africa. Isn’t that wonderful?

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

  10. bbc says:

Yes we have the potential to win the nation’s cup but our players don’t play attacking football rather than back passes hence i don’t think winning will be just like A,B,C unless we play with uegency otherwise forget about south Africa.

  11. Kwesi says:

Stars recognise each other. No wonder Eto invited Dede. Similarly, bitches and loosers also do recognise each other. Anyone who cannot see greatness in Dede should know which side of the coin he belongs.

  12. The Prophet says:

It is unbelievable people are already predicting Ghana has already reached the finals. This is pure arrogance and temptation of faith. Nature don’t like arrogance. The same with destiny. If these people are sensible, they will rather implore the Black Stars players and coaches to work hard to achieve their objective. Words alone, no matter positive or loud do not achieve anything apart from boasting and ego trips. Words are cheap. Show some good reasoning. It is always folly to count your chickens before they get hatched. People must wake up from their stupor and be realistic. They should avoid any form of stupidity that put unnecessary pressure on the boys even before the tournament begins.

  13. peewee says:

I belief similar pronouncements were made by Dede prior to 2012 Afcon and we all saw what happened. I think Dede should focuse on how to take the team on his shoulders to win games for GH as his dad used to do.However, teamwork is paramount in winning championships.Good luck boy.

  14. vs says:

this is not arrogance every single player in the tournament aims to win it and to be successful you have to have faith in God and in yourself there is nothing arrogant about that

  15. Luapula Fish says:

Confidence is very gud for performance and achievement but wen you envite media to prove you wrong or right ,it becomes a problem. How many Ghanian players declare that they will beat Zambia in a world cup qualifier? Dede actually led the declarations. And from the zambian side even promised anything butvther performance was enough for thevpeople to judge they were better than Ghana. Its the reason Ghanian players got humiliated and resorted to violence

    • Zambia is out toilet hole says:

You are a fool to make this comment.Isn’t i Zambians who even deployed your police to attack our players after the referee you conived with robbed us to put you ahead?Coninue to be foolish as you have been for the time is just arond the corner.

      • NEZA says:

come on ghana can win to any team not zambia if you know yo game sit down and check your facts, of all the teams which are at africa cup only tunisia, morroco and algeria are a threat to zambia if zambia met ghana ,ivory coast, mali and nigeria there going back with there cup save this mail and tell me on the 11th feb.

    • kwame pito says:

Know before you talk, Dede ayew was not part of the team that came to play in WCQ in zambia due to shoulder injury.

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

LISTEN HERE ZAMBIA. U WILL NEVER BEAT GH EVER AGAIN IN YOUR LIFETIME, U HEAR.
GAME 1; WE LOST TO U BECOS WE UNDERATED U GUYS. WE WERE DUMB. WE BROUGHT HALFFIT PLAYERS AND A FOERIEGN, UNPROVEN COACH.GYAN MISSED A PENALTY, WE DIDNT HAVE MENSAH. WE COULDNT RECOVER, SO U WON BY LUCK

GAME 2: WE BROGUTH A TEAM MINUS MANY OF OUR VETERAN STARTERS. OUR COACH WAS A GREEN AND UNTESTED. HOW MANY SHOTS ON GAOL DID GH HAVE IN THE ENTIRE 2ND GAME U ASK? EXACLTY, LESS THAN 3 IN OVER 90 MINUTES

I SWEEAR TO YOU, SUCH MISTAKES WONT HAPPEN AGAIN, AND gOD FORBID IF WE MEET U IN SOUTH AFRICA. WE WILL HUMILIATE U ZAMBIANS ONCE AND FOR ALL….TRUST ME. IN THE MEANTIME, WORRY ABOUT NAIJA AND BURKINA

  16. The Prophet says:

You want to win you don’t go round blowing your horn. And if you have faith in God he advises let your ambitions remain between Him and yourself. Even experienced coaches know this. Of the 16 teams participating which one of them has been going round telling everybody their team have already reached the final as you are suggesting. Only those who don’t know the technicalities of football will stupidly put pressure on their players before a major tournament by boasting they are already in the final. Perhaps you are living in a fantasy world if you think faith in God alone and going round blowing your horn is the key to success. God only helps those who help themselves. You will be better off telling the boys to train hard and because the battle ahead will be tough. If you raise your thinking to another level you will realise it is foolish to indulge in such antics.

    • Zambia is out toilet hole says:

Foolish talk.God saids whoever believes in whatever he askes from him will be done and God is not and evil spirt that abhour what people’s are .If that iswhat you mean then it will be stupid on your part to promise your wife, mum dad or siblings of anything but you did more than expected before Christmas.Stupid Zambian ,wise up.

      • Mike says:

        hehehhehehehhe

When will you people stop age cheating? look at your old man, even becoming bald due to old age and you think he is 22years old?

Nowonder you ve won so many under-something cups!

As a Zambian, I believe Ghana will do better this time, they will be third!

  17. kuukuphilly says:

No one can question the work ethics of this young man when it comes to the black stars so let’s all wish him well….

  18. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME GHFUO HAVE BECOME DOUBTFUL OVER THE CHANCES OF WINNING ANY TROPHY IN SOCCER ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT. WAT IS GOING ON? EVER SINCE I WAS A KID, WE GO INTO EVERY FRIGGING REGIONAL OR CONTINENTAL TOURNAMNT, REGARDLESS THE AGE BRACKET, AND PROFESS TO WIN IT ALL. SO FOLKS, TELL ME WAT HAS CHANGED? IF WE AIM FOR THE STARS AND FALL SHORT, GUESS WHERE WE MAY LAND? WE MUST BELIEVE AND PREPARE TO GO OUTHERE TO LIFT THE TROPHY. FEAR IS AN ILLUSION. IF WE DONT BELIEVE WE CAN LEFT THE TROPHY, WHO WILL BELIEVE IN US?

  19. Chibesa says:

    Let the games begin!

  20. Ogya says:

Yes !!!!!!the right attitude to the tournament

  21. i wonder why these bush people call themselves Zambians can talk about issues concerning about GH players..we dont want to exchange words with you,you know why? b’cos are bunch of toilet asses..if we GH people need talk exchange words we could invite country like Nigeria,Cote D’Ivoir,Cameroun,Egypt and even Senegal and not you zambians..and you @the Prophet..if you dont believe and have faith in yourself how can you achieve what you want, huh? So what is wrong about what Dede said GH is winning?? oh PLEASE STOP THOSE BASELESS PREACHING AND COME BACK AGAIN.and as for you @mukmin you have really shown me the true colour of your bush country peopl zambians.you have nothing really sensible to talk about except to criticise our players.look you ‘ve got no player that can even match up to Dede’s standard of playing,so put aside your jelousy attitude and start thinking of how you can face Nigeria as i wouldn’t be supprise they shall surely crash your country into dustbin.FOOLS!!

  22. Dr Who says:

If Dede says GH will win the cup,he has said nothing.Who goes to battle and expects to lose? Whether you believe it or not, that is your wahala.in any case he is not the only person who has said so.

  23. For sure they will win only if its a mock nations cup

  24. Mike says:

Ghana can only win if they invent a time Machine and rewind it to 32 years ago when they were 8-teams at the AFCON.

Your opponents are busy training and strategizing and you are busy making statements??!!!??

The bunch of Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana will not WIN this AFCON. These were good teams years ago not now.

  25. Zambia is our toilet hole says:

What is Zambia?Nigeria will crush them and show them how to respect senior countries in the game.Nigeria 4 Zambia 0 trust me all Zambians.
And for your information,Ghana only flattered you for a while but for your quick growing of wings we shall let you remember what the good news says that”he who humbles himself is lifted but he who lift himself out or arrogancy shall be humbled ”and that is how Zambians have become.Just a little lucky they were ;Oh look at that? They are on the sites of every country just only to antagonize and patronize. The have dug their own hole.Any zambian who dreams they can win against any big African country again from today should dig a hole and bury his foot.

  26. Always on your minds says:

    Ghana’s nightmare….ZAMBIAAAA!!!

  27. Apong says:

If Nigeria nd Burkina faso win group c then our chances are bright….i don’t know why Zambia always spoils our day.

  28. Gimli says:

I’m a Ghana supporter, although not a Ghanaian born. I really don’t understand why all this fuzz about Ghana being better than Zambia throughout the years and so on. Zambia won last year’s AFCON because they were clearly the better team. Ok, Ghana had 2 days less to prepare the semi final but in tournaments, these things can happen. Let’s not forget that Zambia has beaten you again this year for the WC qualifiers and may well deprive you from a place in the finals! I won’t disagree that West Africa produces the best players and has a better record in AFCON. But that’s history we are talking here. There is also the recent history, which shows some very interesting things. The last 4 editions of the AFCON have proven that football is changing in Africa, as everywhere else actually. Football today is about tactics, training, speed and when it comes to national teams… homogeneity! This is a key factor. Egypt didn’t dispose of better individuals than CIV in 2006 and 2008. The same applies to Zambia, in comparison to Ghana and CIV in the last edition. However, these teams had something in common. Appart being well trained, they had the majority of their players competing in the Continent. This factor gave them a great amount of chemistry and homogeneity that cimented their ambition as ONE ambition! They had perfectly understood that the personal achievement had to pass through the collective one. They stood united for a common cause. And they delivered. You want my opinion for this year’s edition? Zambia stands once more among the favorites. Ghana is there too and the same applies for CIV and maybe Algeria. Nigeria has way too many problems to overcome, problems not always directly related to football in this huge country. I think the coach of Ghana has seen what happened in the last editions of the AFCON and he has tried a sort of simulation for his team. I haven’t followed too closely the team during the last year but i believe that he is not lying by saying that the omision of Jordan has not to do with footbalistic reasons. I think he is trying basically to build two teams. The defensive one is gonna be manned with the experienced players, the ones who progress in Europe. The other one though, the one that is related to the offensive miedfield and the forwards is going to be a blend of players that are on the verge of recognition. They are either too young, like Atsu and Boakye or either failed to deliver(like they were supposed to) because they were too egocentric, like Gyan. But they all have something in common. They need to proove things both to themselves and their experienced co players. So, by all means, they form a homogenous group of players. Gyan is the captain and that is a good thing to satisfy his ego. But make no mistake, Dede is the talisman of the team, the one who can unite these two different categories of players. Ghana has had disciplinary issues over the years, due to strong personalities and egoes. The last one had Dede himself on the spotlight if i’m not mistaken. Maybe Jordan’s exclusion lies there. In any case, the coach seeks for unity which is a very important thing to overcome some weak points that this team has on the football domain. The most importan of course being the side backs. No Inkoom on the right means that old Paintsil has to be at his best. It also means no attack from there! What trick will the coach come up with? I don’t know, i couldn’t tell. Same on the left side. Will he opt for Kuadwo there, the same position he holds for Juve? I would do that. But this means that he has to present us with a hidden ace at the position of behind the striker. I personally believe that Ghana has a player who can seize the moment and deliver in this role, a player who was so important during the successful U21 campaign 3 years ago. And his name is Mohamed Rabiu. Of course we can only speculate on matters of tactics and strategy. Above all, it’s the team that needs to stand united against all difficulties. And even if i know that you Ghanaians are too proud to search for an example for this, you should look at the Zambian collective spirit during the last year or so. It is not a shame to learn from our opponent. Even if this opponent isn’t as highly decorated as we are or doesn’t dispose of all these great facilities for training and even prosper in everyday level. I apologize for being garrulous:o) My best wishes to the Black Stars of Ghana! I will cheer for them, as i always do!
