Coach Akwasi Appiah believes the whole world is in for a huge surprise when he leads the Black Stars to World Cup glory in Brazil.

Ghana is making only its third appearance at the finals following progressive stints since their debut participation in 2006.

The Black Stars face a strong challenge right from the onset having been drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and USA.

But coach Akwasi Appiah remains confident he could actually lead the side to an unprecedented World Cup success having been armed with an array of players who match up to the best all over the world.

“I believe we have some of the best players in the whole world and I have so much confidence in their abilities,” he told Metro FM.

“And that is why I keep saying that this World Cup will spring a lot of surprises.

“There is nothing that stops us from going all the way to win the cup.

“But the most important thing is that we psyche our players up and ensure that they perform to their maximum potential.”

Ghana begin the World Cup campaign on June 16 against the USA in Natal before facing three time winners Germany four days later in Forlaleza.

The Black Stars will then finish up its group campaign against Portugal in Brasilia on June 24.

Ghana came mighty close to a semi final qualification in the last World Cup in South Africa.

That missed achievement would have made the Black Stars the first African side to have progressed that far in the history of the World Cup finals.
