Asamoah Gyan
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says the team’s rich experience helped them to eliminate Cape Verde at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars were second best to the Blue Sharks in their quarter-final clash on Monday but did what mattered by winning 2-0.
Second half substitute Mubarak Wakaso scored a brace-the first from the spot and struck an injury time goal.
Gyan, who won a penalty for the opening goal, admitted they had to struggle to dispatch the Cape Verdians.
“The first half was a bit frustrating,” Gyan said in post match conference.
“We couldn’t go through their defence. But what made the difference in our victory, was the penalty. When we scored, the game became opened.
“Although in the second half they dominated, we stood firm. We have experience and we kept our composure and in the late stages, we scored our second goal.
“In tournaments, it’s about you winning and qualifying to the next stage of the competition.
“Especially in the quarter-final, when you lose a game, then you are out of the competition.”
Ghana will not win this Afcon. Continue dreaming! With such a team you will wait another 40 years. The squad of 2012 is three times better than this one.
and you will achieve nothing in this life….amen
We will win you devilish donkey!! It is written in the stars that we will win!! Yes, our time is now!
Papa, in football the best team is not the one that plays beautifully and passes well. The best team that makes it into the history books is the one that scores and defend well. So deal with it. It will always be in the history books that up to 2013 Cape Verde has never beaten Ghana, despite their impressive display of beautiful football.
can someone tell gyan that TO BE AN EFFECTIVE STRIKER. YOU MUST HAVE UR BACK TURNED TO THE GOALIE. GYAN NEVER TURNS HIS BACK TO THE GOALIE. INSTEAD, HE RUNS SIDEWAYS TO THE LEFT/RIGHT…..NO WONDER HE CONTINUES TO BE LESS EFFECTIVE THUS FAR IN THIS TOURNAMNT. GYAN HAVE UR BACK TURNED TO THE GOALIE. THAT WAY WHEN U GET THE BALL, THE GOALIE CANT SEE WAT U INTEND TO DO WITH IT.
GYAN, OMOTUO TUO ZAAFI STRIKER!

keep on hating!
@papa please do me a favor and shut the fuck up.
All enemies of progress will be cast into lake of fire… Ghana is going to win this nation cup. This is not the best from Ghana but with black man as our coach. This team is more united than ever.MOre fire burn on all the pull him down people.!!!!!
The reason why Ghana is not playing fluid football is the defenders. They always balloon the ball to where ever they like when they not even under pressure especially John Boye who played much better game in 2012. Gyan can’t even run no more just look at the chance he had.If we talking about running at defenders Waris could have done a much better job than Gyan.
Godbless, you sit behind the screens and watch Waris outrun and out plays defenders in a lousy league such as the Swedish league and you think he’s a super striker, abi?
Papa is a zambian forget him he jus butthurt…
Fatao Dauda more of such brilliance. But the Stars look too laikadaisical for my liking.More fire! Go Stars Go .Insha Allaah,we shall win.
Give us a break! Gyan hatters. How many Goals did Drogba scored? I rest my case
