Ghana is likely to be without the services of Clifford Aboagye for the ultimate African Youth Championship qualifier against Gabon on August 17.

The 19-year-old is one of the few foreign-based players being requested for by coach Sellas Tetteh for the clash against Gabon.

Spanish club Granada are however refusing to release the playmaker for the first leg clash to be played in Accra.

Granada and any other club for that matter are under no obligation by the FIFA rules to release their players for the aged competitions.

The situation leaves coach Sellas Tetteh short of his influential midfielder but the team’s management committee chairman George Afriyie believes the side will cope well without their star player.

"The coach has made a request for Clifford Aboagye but from the look of things and through the contacts we have made, it is unlikely that we'll have him," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"Therefore we have to make do with what we have in the game against Gabon."

Aboagye shot to fame following his exploits at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey where he won the bronze ball as the third best player.

His impressive performance in that tournament earned him a move to Granada from Ghana Premier League club Inter Allies.
