Ghana U20 ladies team qualified to the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after beating Equatorial Guinea 4-3 on penalties on Sunday in Accra.

The Black Princesses won 1-0 in regulation time after Wasila Diwura-Soale headed in from close range in the 4th minute.

This tied the aggregate at 1-1 after Ghana lost by the same margin a fortnight ago in Malabo.

In the shootouts, Ghana missed their first kick but recovered to convert the fifth on through substitute Fatima Alhassan.

Ghana will be making a third successive appearance at the tournament.

The 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals will be played from 5-24 August in Canada.

Congratulations to the Black Princess but their performance was nothing to write home about. It was just a kick about of the ball. If this is the team that Ghana is taking to the World Cup then we should not expect to go beyond the group stage. We have a lot of work to do to make our very competitive.
