Ghana U20 captain Mumuni Abubakar signs for Sundowns

Posted On Monday, 18th June 2012

Mumuni Abubakar has been unveiled as a Mamelodi Sundowns player

Ghana Under-20 captain Mumuni Abubakar has signed a two-year deal with Mamelodi Sundowns, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

Abubakar, who had trial with English giants Liverpool last year, completed his move in Johannesburg on Monday.

The New Edubiase United midfielder was spotted during Ghana’s participation at the eight-nation Cape Town Invitational Friendly Tournament.

“I have watched Mamelodi Sundowns play and I must say that I like they way the players attack and defend as a unit,” Abubakar told the club’s website.

“The most recent match that I watched was the Nedbank Cup Final against SuperSport United.

”I know this is a big Club and therefore want to conquer, I’m determined to work hard for the team to ensure they achieve that goal.”

Abubakar was named the 2011 Sports Writers Association of Ghana Premier League Player of the Year.

He was a member of Ghana’s historic 2011 All Africa Games gold medal winning team in Maputo, Mozambique.
