Ghana U17 team the Black Starlets
Ghana U17 Management Vice Chairman Winfred Osei says the team needs exposure ahead of the African Championships.
The Black Starlets are drawn in the group of death alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Congo in the tournament to be hosted early next year by Morocco.
Ghana is making a return to the competition after missing the previous two editions.
The strength of Group B has sparked fears over the Black Starlets’ chances in the tournament that kicks off on April 13.
But the team’s management vice chairman believes adequate preparations and exposure will be enough to see the side through.
“The team lacks international exposure according to our research,” he said.
“This was exposed when we travelled to play South Africa (in ultimate qualifier).
“So it means we have to play more friendly matches to put the team in good shape for the tournament.
“I therefore urge the Ministry (of Sports) and any other authority not to deny us the needed resources to adequately prepare the team for the tournament.”
No my friend. What you need is to actually select the best players (not those whose value 3rd parties wish to increase) and then have a competant coach with a system and a plan of how to play. Not this nonsense of putting the players on the pitch and hoping they can play without any direction.
