Ghana U17 exit African Junior Championship after 0-0 draw with Ivory Coast
Ghana's U17 are out of the 2013 African Youth Championship.

Ghana's U17 failed to advance to semi-final of the 2013 African Junior Championship after drawing 0-0 with Ivory Coast in their final Group B match on Saturday.

Paa Kwesi Fabin's side needed a win to stand a chance of winning but the Baby Elephants-who went into the match on top of the table-proved a stubborn side.

The Black Starlets could not find their scoring boots in Casablanca and share the spoils with their West African neighbours.

Ghana finished third in the Group with two points- two draws and one defeat.

This is the first time a Ghana U17 team have failed to progress from the Group stage of an African Junior Championship they have played in.

In the other Group match, Nigeria thrashed Congo 7-0 and that meant Ghana would have progressed if they had won.

Congo played for about an hour with nine men after two expulsions in on 32nd and 39th minutes but Nigeria were already 2-0 up at the time of the first expulsion.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a hat-trick and two goals from Isaac Success, the tournament's leading scorer.

Musa Yahaya and Mathew Ifeanyi were on the scoresheet for the Golden Eaglets.

Nigeria finished top of Group B and will now play Tunisia in Marrakech while Ivory Coast face hosts Morocco in Casablanca to complete the semi-final line-ups.
