Ghana U17 assistant coach Boateng touts Mohammed’s firepower

Ghana Under-17 assistant coach Isaac Opeele Boateng claims Yahaya Mohammed possess the strongest firepower in the current Black Stars set-up.

The 24-year-old was a surprised inclusion in the provisional 26-man squad named by Kwesi Appiah after a stand-out performance for Amidaus Professionals in the Ghana Premier League.

He has scored 9 goals in 11 matches so far, with most of the goals coming from expertly taken free-kicks.

The Ghana Uner-17 male coach claims the on-loan Asante Kotoko versatile player’s ferocious strikes surpasses his fellow strikers.

“I don’t think you can point to any of the players he (Kwesi Appiah) has selected who doesn’t deserve to be there,” Opeele told Asempa FM

“With Yahaya, whenever you put a free-kick around the opponent’s penalty box, then it’s a goal that you’ve got there.

“The kind of shot he plays, no keeper can stop.

“The list that he has come out with gives me confidence that he can go and do something special.

“Yahaya Mohammed for instance is a good addition which shows Kwesi will give you the chance if you prove it.

“Yahaya is scoring goals for fun playing behind the strikers at Amidaus and he has scored more goal than the whole Kotoko team.

“To me its Amidaus coach Tony Lokko that deserves all the praises.

The former OGC Nice midfielder is likely to make the final 23-man cut for the continental showpiece.
