Black Satellites progress after thumping Uganda 3-0

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghana’s U-20 team thrashed their Uganda opponents on Saturday to progress in qualification for the 2013 African Youth Championship.

Goals from Richmond Nketia, Ebenezer Attafuah and Emmanuel Gyamfi proved too strong for The Hippos in the game played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

The Black Satellites needed a result after suffering a 3-1 defeat in the first leg in Nakivubo a fortnight ago.

And they didn’t disappoint before a highly impressive Tamale crowd despite missing a crucial penalty kick early in the game.

Richmond Nketia opened the scoring for Ghana after Jacob Appau had missed the spot kick to give the Black Satellites a slim 1-0 lead by half time.

Ebenezer Attafuah then doubled Ghana’s lead in the second half after several chances were squandered.

Emmanuel Gyamfi wrapped up the win which sees Ghana progress to the ultimate qualification stage on a 4-3 aggregate.

The Black Satelites will no battle Morocco for a spot in the finals to be hosted by Algeria next year.

  12. KWAME NAAGBEWA says:

I know that illiterate called Ansong. He pays a colleague of mine to write his comments for him and save it in microsoft word, so he can just log into this website to “CUT & PASTE”
He had already paid for a written comment expecting Max Konadu to lose but unfortunately his money has gone to waste because Ghana won.
    Stupid Tribalistic Illiterate Ansong!

  18. joe atiso says:

Those of you playing OSTRICH on matters dealing with attacks on Asantes/Akans must be ashamed of yourselves. Day in day out, Akwasi Appiah,Maxwell Konadu and Akwasi Nyantakyi have been at the receiving end of insults and senseless crticisms just because of their ethnicity and tribe. Some of you even have been praying for the failure of these coaches and administrators because of sheer jealousy. The leader of these hopeless pack who calls himself Ansong sees nothing good in Akwasi Appiah,Konadu and Nyantakyi.By the way, the late Atta Mills was a TRIBALIST and you can quote me! He supervised and condoned all acts of tribalism and will forever be seen as the most polarizing president next to his mentor JJ Rawlings.Rabble-rousers on this forum must stop their hypocrisy just like the late self-proclaimed Asomdwehene who has left Ghana divided!Leave Akwasi Appiah, Konadu and Nyantakyi alone to do their work, senseless Morons.

  19. Abdul Karim says:

Thank u Maxwell, God bles u for making Ghana proud! We shall continue to rally behind u til u achieve more laurels for the great nation Ghana. Ayekoo! Mo ne y)

  20. Sergeant says:

Coach Konadu…thank you very much for displaying the confidence repose in you by the GFA.We‘ll continue to support you to bring more honours to the nation because we know what you are capable of doing. You are indeed the best coach in Ghana at the moment.

  21. EMMA says:

JOE,i like your comment and agree with u 100% because those so-called peace makers have sowed a seed of division, tribalism in the country.IAM EWE BUT i hate the way some of us cannot appreciate a GHANIAN when he brings glory to our country.Look at America ,france,England, and even GERMANY Where blacks are recognised becos of sports.I blame their leaders, those blood suckers and uncivilised group they are.ITS TIME TO GROW UP COME ON GHANIANS……

  22. kimco says:

atiso what the hell is wrong with, could u be any more senseless than u already are. How’s that relevant in this thread, nigga get the fuck out of here and take your stupid politics with you.

    WELL DONE MR APPIAH….

  24. EMMA says:

WELL DONE MR MAXWELL, KEEP IT UP

  25. dam says:

personally, i felt we could have done a little better. we squandered about three times the goals we scored. missing that penalty and the long floating balls technique used, while we knew that the ugandans were far taller? all the same a win is a win and congrats to the team.

  26. NANA YAW says:

AFTER THE PENALTY MISS, WE HAD 3 MORE GOALS..GOOD COACH, BUSY BOYS!

  27. Sergeant says:

Ghanaians players and penalty misses! Coach Konadu should work on that before our next game against Morocco

  28. sam says:

@ansong. plees we dont build peace which such comment n though am nt an ashanti bt fante, i strongly blv ghana without ashanti cant define totally wat ghana is made of as wel as d ewes, moslems, gas, etc so every tribe is important 4 d growth of ghana.
