Ghana trio Boateng, Annan, Pantsil snubbed for Sudan qualifier

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has excluded trio Derek Boateng, Anthony Annan and John Pantsil the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan this month.

Appiah left out the three experienced players for varied reasons following his side’s disappointing performance at the 2013 Nations Cup.

Right-back Pantsil is yet to recover from an injury he sustained during the semi-final defeat to Burkina Faso in South Africa.

Midfielder Annan has also been overlooked after returning to the pitch only last week since recovering from a knee setback that plagued his involvement in the continental showpiece in South Africa.

Boateng has paid the a heavy  price for his unconvincing display at the tournament.

In their absence coach Appiah has called-up four debutants – Baba Abdul Rahman, David Accam, Mahatma Otoo and Yaw Frimpong.

Who will play as rightback? No playmaker 2 unlock de compacted sudan defence. We need de Ayews n Kevin Boateng.

  4. mojahadine says:

This is scapegoating on the part of Akwesi Appiah. Asamoah Gyan should have been the third player instead of Anthony Annan.

I do not understand the logic behind keeping this flimsy striker in the team. There is only one reason to this, CHOPCHOP.

  5. TRuMPET says:

@mojahadine U think u can just drop ur captain from ur squad like that? Den why do u make him captain den? Gyan has lost form but generally many players don’t click when they are called. So if K. Asamoah doesnt see top in a tournament do u drop him from ur squad? I personally think the squad is ok. That’s what we hav now.

  6. Kingsford says:

Thuz all we have, so let,s encourage them they will do well gh plsssss.

  7. kantoose says:

Essien is Mourinho‘s puppet and he doesnt want to lose his legs again.lets forget about those who are not committed for national duty-“A live dog is better than a dead lion“
