Posted On Monday, 4th February 2013

Black Stars asistant coach Maxwell Konadu and Kwesi Appiah

Ghana could not complete their first training in Nelspruit on Monday due a heavy downpour.

Heavy rain set in ten minutes into the start of the training the rains started as they prepare for their semi-final clash against Burkina Faso.

Kwesi Appiah and his troops had to abandon the work-out session due to the intensity of the rains.

The Black Stars arrived in Nelspruit on Monday afternoon from Port Elizabeth where they were based for their Group and quarter-final matches.

Ghana will train at the Mbombela Stadium which has been slammed for the poor nature of the pitch.

    • texas says:

Senseless comment. What is the point in training under such heavy rains….this is not a complaint you barbaric fool! its just a report of the fact that it rained heavily while they were training.

      • maka says:

@ texas…do you think rains will stop the match on wednesday….? they will play thru the rain…remember algeria world cup qualifier in the 90s when raber madjer and others disciplined us in the rain? i hope the intensity is not being exaggerated here…cos come rain or shine, CAF will let them play thru it all!

    • the truth says:

good comment, if they were serious rain shouldnt be a distraction

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

  2. TT says:

Can’t GFA force CAF to change the venue before Wednesday? Are we going to complain after the match?

After all ONLY four teams are left in the tournament, can’t the teams play the semi-final in the same stadium with Nigeria V Mali?

The organizers are thinking of making more money from playing at two different places.
    Ghana must speak up now!!!!!

    • kwame-blz says:

Agree with u man, this rain ii only help Gh if the wet condition persist till wednesday.

      • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

WE HVE TO PRESSURE THE BURKINABES TO THEM MAKE MISTAKES IN THE 18.
OUR PLAYERS MUST PLAY BREAK N PASS BALL. CONTROL THE FLOW OF THE GAME. MOVE THE BALL ALONG THE WINGS N TRU THE MIDDLE.

THE MORE GOALS WE GET, THE MORE CONFIDENT OUR PLAYERS WILL BE GOING INTO THE FINAL.
AA MUST STRIVE FOR PERFECTION!. STRIVE FOR PERFECTION!
STRIKERS/attackers win you a match, DEFENDERS win you a tournament!

FYI: aa should START the continental AND LOCAL BASED PLAYERS IN THIS GAME. ASANTE, KISSIS, AFFUL, CLOTTEY, AWAL….MUST ALL START IN THIS GAME.
THEY CAN COMPETE BOOT FOR BOOT WITH THE BUGA BUGA PITCH AND THE BURKINA PLAYERS. IM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YIADOM IN THIS GAME.

Hahahahah @kuuku that’s some funny shit there.

  4. tbdarko says:

@kuukuphilly …….. i believe the article said it was a heavy rain and due to the intensity of it they had to abandoned the training. This has nothing to do with them being lazy. Its just a safety precaution.

  5. Dr Who says:

  13. anokwale says:

The most important thing is to stay healthy. The Burkinebes are physically tough. No need to go in limping.

  14. zambia is our toilet hole says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAA
GHANA MEANS ,GOD HAS APPOINTED NKRUMAH ALREADY.
AND NKRUMAH MEANS,NOBLE KING RULING UNLIMITEDLY MAKING AFRICANS HAPPY.
MEANING GOD HAS CHOSEN GHANA TO WIN THIS YEARS CUP THOUGH THE BATTLE WILL NOT BE JUST EASY.

  15. Dr Who says:

Some of you must go back to basic school and do comprehension. You read that the team stopped training due to the “intensity of the rain“ & you expect the players to train despite that? For God sake we are talking about rains not drizzles.Does referees not stop matches due to rains? Its an act of God and we cant do anything about it.No member of this forum should think that he is more Ghanaian than the players and coaching staff in South Africa. They love Ghana just like me & you.I cant imagine what some of you would have said if they had defied the rains & trained through and finally ended up with injuries or sickness.Eventhough we are passionate, lets be modest with our expectations and pray for the team.

  16. kojo 2 says:

how can train in what is described as heavy rains.note that the training got started and was distrupted.i am surprised at these comments.these boys need the win more than you do.

  17. EA1us says:

Guys this is common sense approach used by the coach. Moreover, a fool will be a fool regardless where he or she lives on the planet, i just want to get that out of the way. Listen up b’cos l have to paraphrase this guys; the training was cancelled due to “INTENSIVE RAIN” which part of this is so hard to comprehend. This team has been training together for a long time, in 2010 world cup, 2012 afcon, and this year since they came to camp. They’ve already played four games together in this competition, so their chemistry together is not a problem. However, if you still think the practice that was terminated today will be responsible for a loss on wednesday? Then you don’t just understand sports!

  18. Mojahadine says:

They should relax and watch video tape of Bokina faso period. They should watch their opponent to know how to stop them

  19. junior mafia says:

Som ppl would rather c da players get sick before da match.

  20. millennium says:

the stars dont play like they train so why the hip hop about raining disrupting their training.
