Kwadwo Asamoah is likely to be deployed in the Ghana attack
By Ameenu Shardow, Port Elizabeth
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is likely to push influential midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah into attack when they face Mali at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.
The Juventus star has been used as a makeshift left-back since the Black Stars started their Group B campaign at the tournament in South Africa.
But with the Black Stars facing a make-or-break match against Mali Appiah has been forced to rethink his strategy of using Asamoah as a defender.
The midfielder has been used by coach Appiah in the midfield since Tuesday when the Black Stars started their serious training for the Mali match.
Asamoah was played just behind striker Asamoah Gyan during the team’s final training session at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University on Wednesday night.
This means he is likely to be used in that position when they face the Eagles on Thursday.
Coach Appiah has been desperate to solve the left-back problems of the Black Stars by using Asamoah in that position.
The gamble has proved very useful as he created Ghana’s first goal against DR Congo before scoring the second in the match.
But with the Black Stars lacking creativity in the last quarter of the pitch, coach Appiah is expected to bin his experiment of the Asamoah gamble.
Ghana will all but seal their place in the quarter finals if they manage to defeat the Malians.
Ghana probable starting line-up: Fatau Dauda, John Pantsil, Harrison Afful, Isaac Vorsah, John Boye, Rabiu Mohammed, Albert Adomah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Asamoah Gyan, Mubarak Wakaso.
Confused coach, so now you know he will be useful upfront because its a make-or-break scenario. Make a case for local coaches and stop this non-sense!
Your name tells hwo you are.
Correction: Your name tells who you are.
Yes my name is Big mouth and am challenging you and Akwasi Appiah to live up to expectation.
As for you Nana, it is the typical age long ghanaian mentality of not calling a spade a spade that is worrying you.
Must win game for Ghana and the the black stars will deliver in style.AA is here to stay as a Ghana coach and he will lead Ghana to the world cup.All those calling for the head of AA will be silence today.GFA should bring Addo Otto into Ghana technical team.

GIVE THE CAPTAIN TO BADU.
GSN, Ghana has not lacked creativity upfront. We create lots of chances. Gyan must back up!! Kwadwo behind Gyan is a good idea.
Ghanaians shd relax and pray, MALI CAN NEVER BEAT GHANA!
Ghana 3-0 Mali.
no no no. Leave Atsu behind Gyan as normal but Kwadwo on the left-wing. That is where he creates chances from. He is also a good left crosser.
