A faulty floodlight at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra has forced the Ghana FA to move the match to the country’s second biggest city.
The National Sports Council, caretakers of the national stadia in the country, claim facing difficulties in repairing a damaged component in the floodlight for the past three months.
The Black Stars last played in Accra on 5 September 2009 and beat Sudan 2-0 to seal an early qualification to the 2010 World Cup finals.
Kumasi hosted the remainder of the three home matches for the joint 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifiers.
Many national team players have expressed their presence to playing in Kumasi than Accra because of boo-boys.
KUMASI VENUE IS BETTER FOR AKWASI APPIAH. NOT ONLY B/S PLAYERS BUT AKWASI APPIAH WILL ALSO GET MAXIMUM SUPPORT. IF APPIAH PASS THE TEST, I WILL ADVISE GFA TO TRY HIM JUST 6 MONTH TO ONE YR. ONE MATCH IS NOT ENOUGH TO ASSESS HIM; APPIAH NEEDS ONE YR FOR BETTER ASSESSMENT.
