Ghana to meet Cape Verde if AFCON quarters if they beat Niger

Ghana will set up a quarter-final meeting with Cape Verde at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations if they beat Niger in the last Group B match on Monday.

The Black Stars will be up against the Menas in Port Elizabeth when the group campaign reaches it climax.

Victory against their West African rivals means that Ghana will finish top of the group and will come up against the second placed team in Group B which was clinched by debutantes Cape Verde on Sunday in dramatic fashion.

Cape Verde qualified for the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations after coming from behind to beat Angola 2-1 in Port Elizabeth.

The Angolans took the lead on 33 minutes through an own goal from Cape Verde defender Neves.

The Blue Sharks equalised with nine minutes left, as defender Fernando Varela headed in from close range.

Substitute Heldon snatched the winner in the 90th minute to secure second place in Group A behind South Africa.

Lucio Antunes' side are the smallest nation ever to compete at the Nations Cup and their progression defies many pre-tournament predictions, as they join the hosts in the quarter-finals, after the South Africans' 2-2 draw with Morocco to top Group A.

If the Black Stars manage to win against Niger they will finish top of Group B and will remain in Port Elizabeth of the quarters.
