Ghana to fortify U17 team for African campaign

Published on: 10 December 2012

The Ghana U17 team will be strengthened for the African Championships.

The Black Starlets are drawn in the acclaimed group of death alongside Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo.

Ghana is making a return to the competition after missing the two previous editions.

And the team’s management team is determined to help the coaches build a formidable side for the tournament to be hosted early next year in Morocco.

"We will strengthen the side where we have weaknesses to ensure we qualify for the World Cup," the Black Starlets Management Committee vice chairman Winfred Osei said.

"Ivory Coast are a good side but don't have the same pedigree as we do on the world stage at that level.

"So yes it is a difficult group but I have confidence in the boys and I'm certain they'll sail through."

The tournament kick starts in Morocco from April 17-27, 2013.
