Ghana utility player Yahaya Mohammed has been ruled out of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations due to a groin injury.

The Amidaus Professional attacker suffered the recurring injury and has been examined by the Black Stars medical staff.

Yahaya will be out for between three to four weeks which means he will not be able to recover in time for the competition in South Africa.

“It’s a huge blow for the team, especially me. He has been in very good form and I was looking forward to working with him,” Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said.

“The medical team will follow his recovery and I expect him to get well soon. He will be considered again once he returns to full fitness.”

Black Stars will depart for the training camp in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Ghana have been drawn in Group B where they will face DR Congo, Mali and Niger.

Oh Brother! What a misfortune, just when he was on top of his game, now this. Now A. Appiah must move swiftly to find his replacement. In my mind the ideal replacement should be Jordan Ayew. We definitely need four strikers for this tournament.

Hmmm… It looks like the coach and management of the Black Stars are determined to keep Jordan out for what appears to be more than footballing reasons.I guess the next logical choice after Jordan should be Warris

  3. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

WARRIS IS THE BETTER REPLACEMENT NOT JORDAN. 4 GOALS IN 17 GAMES IN THE FRNCH LEAGUE? PLS….GO N CHECK ON THE TOP 25 STRIKERS IN THE FRENCH LEAGUE AND SEE WHERE JORDAN AYEW’S NAME IS?
