Ghana striker Yahaya Mohammed has revealed he will remain with Asante Kotoko until the end of the season before joining his new club Ittihad Tripoli.

The 25-year-old has signed a lucrative long-term contract with the Libyan club for an undisclosed fee.

Yahaya’s move comes just two days after Kotoko crashed out of the CAF Champions League to Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers.

The ex OGC Nice has done his medicals and will sign a professional contract with Ittihad after which he will return to finish his contract with the defending Premier League champions.

“I still have a contract with Kotoko,” Mohammed revealed.

“They [Ittihad] just want me after my contract [with Kotoko] ends.”

The dread-locked striker’s existing deal with the Ghanaian giants ends in May.

He did not travel with the Kotoko team for the return CAF Champions League defeat to Barrack Young Controllers due to injury.

Mohammed was part of the Ghana team that finished runner's up to Libya at the just ended CHAN tournament hosted by South Africa.
