Spartak Moscow striker Abdul Majeed Waris has expressed delight at his return to the Black Stars squad.
Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has included the 21-year-old who made his Russian Premier League debut for Spartak Moscow last weekend in his 24-man squad for the 2014 crucial World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
Waris missed out of Ghana's 2013 AFCON squad despite winning the Swedish League golden shoe and best player award last season.
However after impressing on pre-season with Spartak, bagging three goals in two friendlies last month, he has been included in the Ghana squad for the crucial qualifier against Sudan later this month.
He will now have to compete for a permanent place in Kwesi Appiah's strikeforce with captain Asamoah Gyan, former Right to Dream Academy team-mate David Accam and Hearts of Oak's Mahatma Otoo.
And, Waris expressed delight at his return though he admits he has to fight for his place in the team.
"Its always good to be back in the team because its my country and I must give my maximum best," he told Ghanasoccernet.com.
"Now everything in the team is competition so I have to fight for my place in the team and that is exactly what I'm going to do."
