Ghana striker Waris scores in Spartak friendly again but suffers injury

Posted On Thursday, 21st February 2013

Abdul Majeed Waris scored again for Spartak Moscow in a friendly

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris was taken off injured in Spartak Moscow’s 3-2 friendly win against Stromsgodset on Thursday.

The 21-year-old scored the match’s opener on 12 minutes and made an assist in the second goal before being replaced in the 17th minute after picking up the injury

It is unclear at this point the severity of the injury but details are expected to emerge after Thursday’s game.

Waris has just resumed his impressive goal scoring form for the Russian club.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate won last season’s Goal King award with Swedish club BK Hacken before his big money switch last November but made official in January.

This injury if serious could scupper his return to the Ghana national team for next month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

I wish you a speedy recovery dude. We desperately need you to replace that that number 3 guy who is slow and can not score goals

  2. Troy says:

Where’s (Requelme) ? Why Didn’t your Niaja Top Goal scorer (Emenike) who will bench Warris play? I hope he hasn’t done any juju on our boy warris just like Mikel Obi did to Essien to be injured so he gets to play.

  3. cool says:

Why is that Africans rely on JUJU (Black Magic)to succeed and solve their problem?.Why can we perform any feat without consulting a Juju Doctor. Why can’t we use it the right way but rather to pull back people

  4. RobVA says:

You guys are idiots, JuJu doesn’t exist. Damn, why can’t y’all just face the facts. The guy is injured period, it happens to everybody playing professional football or not.

  5. Africanus says:

I wonder why Kwasi Appiah didn’t see the striking abilities of Warris. It is unbelievable. Appiah simply does not know how to deploy quality players. His use of Kwadwo Asamoah and omision of Dede clearly points to the coaches incompetence

  6. 9ja Blood... says:

ghanaians should know they have a striker as deadly as Emenike’ and should pray to have one..

  7. 9ja Blood... says:

Emenike is Africa’s deadliest striker today…period

  8. Riquelme says:

@Troy.. For ur information, emenike is out for several weeks due to an injury. Moreover, try to add the tag (african goal king) to emenike’s name not by saying naija top goal scorer. Waris can not bench d likes of musa, akpala, ighalo, ezekiel and anichebe if they happens to be in d same club, talkless of saying emenike. U are busy clamouring for an average striker in person of “waris” in ur “black ducks” team, when nigeria are having a pool of classic forwarders to choose to represent d nation (Emenike, Ideye, Martins, Ameobi, Musa, Uche, odemwingie, eneramo and anichebe) asked d likes of milo, kpb and essien u will b told dat ur players used juju against each others in black ass team. Mikel only forced essien out of chelsea team bcos he is ageing, also joel obi forced muntari out of inter.

  9. NIGERIAN MAN says:

Riquelme, I appreciate you always for your pin point no nonsense delivery , I can’t just help but laugh at this black ass supporters who are blind and cannot see reality
It will be an insult to compare the best striker in Africa presently the undisputed king of goal ( Emmanuel EMENIKE ) to waris , he can’t even bench Sunday MBA of warri wolves in the same team not to talk of bog boy EMENIKE, even their best striker asamoah GYAN can’t bench EMENIKE or any of our strikers so let this babies continue to cry dog
As for those who think mikel forced ESSIEN out with juju so he can play, it is one of the most barbaric state net I have heard in recent time , very barbaric and shocking , mikel outplayed him both at training and in matches,ESSIEN was once a force but he has lost form and is ageing so mikel is not to be blamed for his misfortune he is simply unlucky with injuries besides he fucked toto too much , his sexual escapades are to many to keep him fit and you Ghanaians know that as well

  10. karl says:

    @ riquelme…. i wish you could say those words a month a go…

  11. Emenike is Africa’ best no9′ at the moment’ without question or contradiction…

  12. RobVa says:

What are you guys doing on a Ghanaian web site. Don’t you have your own forums to invade. We are all happy for you on winning the AFCON. Just remember that karma is a bitch.
