Prince Tagoe has arrived in the USA to talk with Seattle Sounders

Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has arrived in the United States to hold talks with Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders over a possible transfer.

The 24-year-old Hoffenheim player admitted on Monday that Seattle have placed a massive offer worth US$ 200,000 a week and would consider the move.

Tagoe arrived in New York on Tuesday and will assess the possibilities of tying a deal with the Seattle-based side who have reportedly proposed a six-month loan deal.

The lanky forward has also agreed personal terms with Swiss champions FC Basel.

His intention is to play regular and a club where he will be accepted.

Tagoe joined the German side Hoffenheim in the summer of 2009 but has no love for the club.

What? Tagoe, don’t do it. save yourself…..

  2. RANV says:

Can u please tell me which player earns $200,000 a week in the MLS??? Doesn’t the MLS have a salary cap system in place??? Hmmm GHsoccernet, please get your facts right.

    • JNR says:

Exactly what i was thinking too. The MLS do have a salary cap and only Beckham and Henry earns A BIT CLOSE to $200,000-a-week and not the full $200,000-a-week, so NOPE Tagoe is not going to be earning that just for 6months deal. He is not much of a big star like Beckham to even think of earning that.
      This story is rubbish!

  3. ofei says:

Who the Hell is advising this young man.Does he think that he go to the US and come play for the Black stars? He should forget it.What about the Switz deal?

  4. Gunner says:

beckham and Henry earns more than 200grand a week so wht u talking about?

  5. JUMO says:

Granted the quality of play in the MLS is not close to that of Germany or even the Swiss league, but it is $200 000. He is making close to double what Essien makes. Which one of you would not take it? Besides, the MLS is no worse than the crappy league he played in last year – expection of the artificial turf in many of the MLS stadiums.

  6. ARCHIMEDES says:

Point of correction JUMO. Essien got a £120000-a-week wages. Do the must! going for a 6month loan on that salary is not bad at all. I will make the same move. No matter how sweet you put it, it all boils down to the Benjamins anyway.

    • JNR says:

Point of correction also ARCHIMEDES… Essien is NOT earning £120,000-a-week wages, know the facts before you speak.
      Essien is earning £90,000-a-week!

Also only Beckham and Henry is earning a bit close to $200,000-a-week so no Tagoe is not going to be offered £200,000-a-week deal! This is not true!

  7. Ata says:

    TAGOE MONEY TRANSFER.

  8. citizen kofi says:

MLS is for players reaching their retirement like Olele not you Prince.

  9. Topsey says:

$200k? Then whats Henry and Beckham getting $400k? This doesnt sound right but hey if its true Tagoe should go cause there is no team in Europe which will pay him that sort of money.

Anyway Tagoe has no business in any of the major club nations in Europe cause he is 4/10 striker at best. He can only play well in Eastern Europe lol.

Hes just another long list of average/crap players in the Black Stars.

It takes Ghana 10 to 11 years to produce ONE good striker who can hold themselves up in the top Euro leagues.
When I was little we had Yeboah, ten years on Gyan is trying. Whos next?

  10. Romeo gee says:

If you put money before your carreer it will be very bad for you. Think twice bro. MLS is for the soccer pensioners.

  11. Lipo says:

This is a stupid idea. Tagoe will kill himself if he go to USA. Ridicoulous.

  12. Randy says:

Seattle will not be paying him $200,000 per week or anywhere close to that number. GM Adrian Hanaur said they wouldn’t pay that much for any player. That is way above his market value. This will probably be a six month loan at his market value to end the MLS season and give Seattle a shot at winning the MLS Cup before joining the Swiss club. He will also have the opportunity to play in front of 36,000 every home game, so Seattle is not like the rest of MLS.

  13. Seattle 206 says:

Why shouldn’t Tagoe start for the Black Stars if he comes to Seattle? We have Alvaro Fernandez, a 25 year old Uruguayan player who played at the World Cup in South Africa along side Diego Forlan who still gets called up for Uruguay. If a move to Seattle was good enough for the manager of the 4th place team in the 2010 World Cup then it should be good enough for the manager of Ghana. Our team has plenty of skilled international players such as Fredy Montero from Colombia who is destined to be a future star in Europe and Mauro Rosales who played at Ajax, River Plate and represented Argentina. You guys need to get a grip. MLS is a better league than your giving it credit for.

Rafa Marquez moved from FC Barcelona to Red Bull New York in MLS and he not only still plays for his national team, Mexico, but remains their captain. There is no reason Prince Tagoe should have his national team career placed in jeopardy from moving to MLS. The standard is about the same as the English Championship and no one would question him moving there.
