Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been voted the Russian Premier League player of the week after scoring the match winner for Spartak Moscow in their victory over FK Rostov on Sunday.

The 22-year-old climbed off the substitute bench in the 68th minute to rescue the maximum points for his side in a tight contest to keep his side in contention for the league title.

He employed his quick alertness to beat the Rostov defence to connect home a corner kick from the right.

Despite spending just 22 minutes on the pitch, his entire contribution in the few minutes was rated the best among all players who played in the Premier League over the weekend.

The Black Stars striker is set to leave the Russian side to join a new club as a loanee.

Please, Ghanasoccernet, we you provide us the link. I like this guy, Waris but how can someone plays 22 minutes in about a month and be crowned the best player of the week. GSN is campaigning hard for this guy.

  2. Africanus says:

Kofi, it is not about how long he played, it is about his contribution and the big difference it made.

  3. Jaja says:

Congrats majeed, but instead of winning this award I’d rather see him win a starting berth with his club

  4. George Escape says:

This guy is really amazon. We look to his performance in Brazil
