Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been voted the Russian Premier League player of the week after scoring the match winner for Spartak Moscow in their victory over FK Rostov on Sunday.

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been voted the Russian Premier League player of the week after scoring the match winner for Spartak Moscow in their victory over FK Rostov on Sunday. 

The 22-year-old climbed off the substitute bench in the 68th minute to rescue the maximum points for his side in a tight contest to keep his side in contention for the league title.

He employed his quick alertness to beat the Rostov defence to connect home a corner kick from the right.

Despite spending just 22 minutes on the pitch, his entire contribution in the few minutes was rated the best among all players who played in the Premier League over the weekend.

The Black Stars striker is set to leave the Russian side to join a new club as a loanee.
