Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has sealed a six-month loan move to French club Valenciennes - as he seeks to better his form ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The Spartak Moscow striker becomes the second confirmed Ghanaian big name move following that of Jordan Ayew – who has joined Sochaux- a day after the winter transfer window officially opens in Europe.

The 22-year-old will be looking to maintain his personal form with the loan switch due to the long winter break in Russia.

Waris is alos looking to keep active at club level to remain in the plans of Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah as the 2014 World Cup draws closer.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate has struggled to regain the same form that made him best player and top goalscorer in the Swedish top flight in 2012 since moving to Russia.

Waris however impressed for Ghana during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers – where his formidable partnership with lead striker Asamoah Gyan caused havoc in opposing defence.

Valnciennes President Jean-Raymond Legrand has confirmed the move for Waris as his sides looks to strengthen this January in their desperate battle to avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

Les Antheniens are currently 18th in Ligue 1 – three points away from safety after the first half of the season.
