Ghana striker David Accam claims he rejected offers from many stellar clubs in Europe to stay with Helsingborg.

The ‘King’ has been in blistering form for the Swedish side where he has scored double-digits this season.

The former Right to Dream product has increased his goal tally to 17, prompting many stellar clubs to enquire about his availability.

The red-hot striker has been linked with a number of top sides in Europe including English giants Manchester United, Swansea and Belgian side Standard Liege.

He has revealed he turned down numerous overtures to stay with Helsingborg.

“Given the position of the club, I felt it was right to stay this summer, despite bids,” he told Aftonbladet.

“I do not know what the future holds for me. All I know is that if I continue to work hard and be good with the team, it will benefit everyone. Maybe I can be top scorer.

“But I will not make an obsession. I just want us to have good results in the remaining matches. I know we can do it. That's why I did not want to leave this summer.

“It's nice to be linked with big clubs in Europe that means I'm good. I know I can be competitive against the top teams in Sweden and even better.”

Accam has been invited for Ghana's African Cup of Nations two-legged ties against Guinea next month.
