Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has been named in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations best XI squad.

The Al Ain striker failed to replicate his rich scoring form at club level where he netted 22 goals in the United Arab Emirates Etisalat League for the first half of the season.

Gyan scored one goal in six matches but created several assists for his teammates, which was encouraging.

He was picked by CAF's Technical Study Group to strike upfront with Nigeria's Emmanuel Emenike who was joint top scorer with Mubarak Waso with four goals.

Winners Nigeria dominated the list with five players including Chelsea stars Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Efe Ambrose.

The other players in this team include Burkina Faso central defender Bakary Kone, Cape Verde skipper Fernando Neves.

Rennes and Burkina Faso winger Jonathan Pitroipa, who was named the MVP of the 2013 Nations Cup, also earned a place in the line-up.

Mali captain Seydou Keita and Siaka Tiene of the Ivory Coast complete the list.

CAF XI: Vincent Enyeama-Bakary Koné, Nando Maria Neves, Efe Ambrose-Jonathan Pitroipa, Siaka Tiéné, Seydou Keita, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses-Asamoah Gyan, Emmanuel Emenike.
