Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will have to wait until Friday to potentially clinch his second UAE league title with Al Ain.
This comes after Dubai Club rejected Al Ain's plea to move the clash between the two sides forward.
The Boss had been eager to play the match 24 hours earlier to allow them extra time to prepare for their crunch AFC Champions League game with Saudi side Al Hilal next Tuesday.
But the league leaders late on Tueaday night confirmed that Dubai Club had turned down their request to prepone their meeting by a day.
A spokesman confirmed the development, saying: “The game has not been moved to Thursday and Dubai Club did not give a reason for turning us down.â€
Victory for the Boss at the Tahnoun bin Mohamed Stadium will give them an unassailable lead at the top of the table, where they are 13 points ahead of Al Ahli.
A second successive domestic triumph is surely all-but in the bag, but progress in Asia could well be determined by next week’s huge Group D clash.
All four teams are still in with a chance of qualifying and victory would go a long way to taking Cosmin Olaroiu’s side into the knockout stages.
Gyan, the Black Stars captain has been hugely instrumental in their recent successes having scored the most goals in the league.
He is also in the hunt for the league's top scorer award.
