Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan was awarded by Al Ain fans for his milestone achievements at the 2014 World Cup on Friday night.

The 28-year-old finished the World Cup staged in Brazil where Ghana crashed to a first round exit as the all-time leading scorer for his country – breaking a long-standing record jointly held by Edward Acquah and Kwesi Owusu in the process.

Gyan also dethroned legendary Roger Milla as the highest scoring African in the history of the World Cup finals with six goals in three campaigns at the World Cup.

The former Sunderland striker who signed a two-year contract extension with the UAE giants earlier this week, was presented with a crystal-like trophy by Al Ain’s fans in celebration of his international achievements.

The presentation took place shortly after the Dubai-based club was presented with the annual International Friendly Tournament trophy following a 1-1 draw with Al Nasrr on Friday.

Gyan wasn’t involved throughout the friendly tournament as he continues to build his fitness upon his return to pre-season training on Monday.

The Boss’ fans also presented a Gyan with a pictorial billboard of himself which is expected to be erected near the Al Ain home stadium.

Some of the fans in the stands were spotted wielding banners displaying Gyan’s achievements in the stands during and after the club’s International Friendly tournament feat.

Gyan in returned thanked the club and its fans for their massive support since his arrival from Sunderland in 2011.

The Ghana international has evolved to become the most important player of the side - powering the club to back-to-back league triumphs with his aplenty goals.

Gyan is now the leading scorer in the Asian Champions League where Al Ain will be facing Al Ittihad at the quarter final stage.
