Ghana will start preparation for their hosting of the GOtv WAFU Cup later this month after they were handed a tough draw for next month's competition.

The home-based Black Stars team will start camping on 28th October to prepare for the matches in the regional top-flight competition.

The regional tournament will be hosted in Accra from 21 to 28th November but with the league underway the home-based Black Stars are unable to open camping immediately.

But chairman of the local Black Stars Management Team, Fred Pappoe says that their preparation for the GOtv WAFU Cup will begin later this month as the team cannot hold a lot of camping sessions as they would have required.

Pappoe added that the regular participation in the Ghana Premier League would make up for that loss of preparatory time as it will guarantee that player are active with playing time in the top-flight.

"Camping for the local Black Stars team is not as simple as it seems. Preparation is not only camping," Pappoe said.
"When the players feature for their clubs, they are getting themselves ready for tournaments. We saw Kotoko and Hasaacas play on Thursday and it was excellent.

"Week in, week out, the players play regularly so at their level, they are getting themselves in shape.

"However, at the appropriate time, we will go for a few residential camping sessions and we might start on the 28th of October for about five days.

"They will return to camp on the 17th of November to start camping for the WAFU Cup."

Ghana kicks off against Sierra Leone at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first match of the tournament and the top two teams in each group will contest for the trophy in the final.
