Midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says Schalke 04 can cope with the pressure ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against FC Basel.

Anything less than a win for the German side will spell elimination ahead of the visit of the Swiss side.

Schalke will be hoping to record the double over their visitors having beaten 1-0 in the corresponding fixture on match day-2 of Europe’s elite inter club competition.

The Ghanaian international says they can cope with the pressure of beating Basel in front of their home fans.

"I haven't noticed a day here without pressure.  Since I've been here, the team and the coach have felt pressure, but we can handle this,” the former AC Milan star said

“We know we are under pressure playing at home, but as I've said, this has always been the case. The coach will give us the right advice and we'll make it to the next round together.

"In Basel we defended very well and launched good counterattacks.

"This should be our plan again. We must be strong in defence and then sting like a bee on the attack â€“ like blue and white bees of course."
