Ghana star Essien rates La Liga ahead of EPL

Michael Essien congratulating Madrid team-mate Mesut Ozil, feels the Spanish La Liga is more exciting than English Premier League

Real Madrid loan star Michael Essien is enjoying football in Spain and has branded the La Liga as “more fun” than the physical English Premier League.

The 30-year-old is on a season-long loan spell with European giants Real Madrid from Uefa Champions League title holders Chelsea.

Essien spent eight seasons in the English Premier League after joining Chelsea from Olympique Lyon in 2005/2006 season.

After spending first-half of the season with Madrid, the Ghana international has learnt the difference between the beautiful Spanish game and the physical English game.

“The English competition is very physical,” Essien said.

“From what I have seen so far in La Liga, teams want to play in a way that is based more on ball movement. This makes it more fun to play.

“In England some teams do not focus on playing, but more on the physical contact. That is where I see the big difference.”

Essien has made ten La Liga appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side and scored once.

a kid turns to like the person who gets them food when hungry at that point in time, we ii all hear back when racism knocks at his doors. essien tell me the number of clubs in financial trouble in the EPL compare to the La liga, if you were at a smaller club ur perspective on the better league ii be different. Good luck.

U are right essien.. @sheshe, not dat barce and real are both dominating laliga, but they are just superior than other clubs in europe. Apart from barce and real other clubs in laliga can easily beat the tops clubs in other leagues.. For instance take a good look at d uefa cup competition, is it not d spanish teams that are dorminating every season?
