Ghana sent a spy to monitor Malawi in Liberia friendly

Posted On Wednesday, 5th September 2012

Malawi played against Liberia in a friendly

Ghana Football Association technical director Francis Oti Akenteng spied on Malawi in Tuesday’s friendly against Liberia.

The experienced coach was at the National Complex in Monrovia when the Flames were beaten 1-0 by the Lone Stars.
Akenteng will present a report on Malawi to Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah on their strengths and weaknesses.
The Black Stars host Malawi at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final round first leg qualifier.
The return leg will be played in Lilongwe on 14 October with the winner of the two-legged tie progressing to next January’s finals in South Africa.

  1. Dr Who says:

That shows how serious the GFA is taking the AFCON match against Malawi & the friendly against Liberia. Both teams will fall to the Black Stars.

  2. Sade says:

There are no small teams indid. i think it was wise for Ghana to spy no one wants surprises

  3. Mochacho-USA says:

Good job A. Appiah,we shd be doing this long tym cos big tym coachs even does it

  4. KWAME NAAGBEWA says:

It would have been best Akwasi Appiah went out there himself because in this case Akwasi Appiah is now Unfortunately under the impression of whoever went do the spying. Does Akwasi even call the shots for himself in terms of coaching the blackstars?

  5. Selfmade says:

Eeei is now that akwasi appiah want to assess their strength and weakness? What was he doing all these months when we were paired against them..what happened to their matches on video? Maybe i might be wrong but i think is high time our appiah proves his critics wrong and i know i can so mr capito be firm, hard and talk to the players and don’t fear nobody and i know the sky ll be your limit… i ll also advised that u watch video matches of teams we are about to play so that when u set your formations to our team,u could it confidently and the moment the players see such confidence from u,u ll earn their respect automatically…. be confident mr and don’t let noone intimidated u and u ll be surprised how u gonna rise… alot of people has their reservations about u not because of your competence but because of your calm demeanour because they think the players ll take your calmnes to be weakness and misbehave so once a while be tough on them cuz if u want to make it in business, u have to be tough, sometimes wicked and firm… i wish u well and don’t trust those ghanaian coaches too much because they ll lead u to your downfall……… 21 gun salute to u as u planned to ko Malawi… viva the revolutioncion!!!!! Viva the revolutioncion!!!

  6. Lee says:

Is this story necessary? Why should it be in the media when it was done in secret. If Malawi had beaten Liberia that would have been a useful info, but they lose. How can they beat Black Stars in Ghana if they couldn’t even draw with Liberia?
Even Berekun Chelsea can beat Malawi soundly in Accra. Give me a break.
